SK.MaDFroG is rated highly in the Warcraft 3 scene and has many achievements to his belt. I caught up with him to ask him about the new expansion TFT and his upcoming trip to Korea to participate on TV in the ongamenet tournament.

ok could you please introduce yourself and give us some info on your gaming background

Q : 간단히 자신에 대한 소개와 여태까지 해온 게임들에 대해 말씀해 주시겠습니까?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Hi, my name is Fredrik Johansson and I have been playing computer games since i was 11 or something. I started with Warcraft I then I have played all blizzard games after that.

제 이름은 프레드릭 요한슨입니다. 대략 11살때부터 PC게임을 시작한 것 같은데, 워크래프트1부터 시작하여 모든 블리자드의 게임을 플레이했습니다.

Now that tft has been out for over a month do you feel you have adjusted well to it ?

지금 확장팩이 나온지 한달이 넘었는데요, 좀 적응이 되고 있나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Yes i would say that, it's more like Broodwar that i played alot. I like that there are many more strategies now, so i have still alot to learn.

그렇다고 볼 수 있죠. 꼭 브루드워때와 비슷한 느낌입니다. 좀 더 많은 전략을 사용할 수 있어서 더 좋아요. 아직도 배울 게 더 많습니다.

Do you feel there are any imbalances in this patch ?

이번 패치에 종족간 불균형이 있다고 느끼나요?


SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Lots of players are whining about their own race, but i think we are getting close to a perfect game.

많은 게이머들이 자신의 종족에 대해 우는 소리를 하는데요..(whining은 말이 우는 소리라는데, 원뜻은 말이 기분좋을때 내는 소리인 듯 합니다..그런데 문맥상 불평이라는 느낌이에요)
그래도 점점 완벽한 게임에 가까워 진다고 생각해요.

what did you think of the commentary and article that TillerMaN made about human imbalance ?

휴먼종족의 불균형에 대한 틸러맨의 글들에 대해 어떻게 생각하시나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Hmm... All i heard was that he whined about HU fast exp. But i dont feel that there is any problems about that, and I hope he don't feel like that anymore.

흠. 제가 들은 건 그가 휴면의 패멀(빠른 확장)에 대해 불평했다는게 다에요. 하지만, 전 그게 별로 문제가 아니라고 생각해요. 더 이상 그도 그렇게 안 느꼈으면 좋겠습니다.

You and your teammate HeMaN were invited to korea to participate in the ongamenet tournament, what are you most looking forward to do in korea?

당신과 당신의 동료 HeMan은 이번에 한국에 초대되어 온게임넷 토너먼트에 참가하게 되었는데요, 어떤 점을 가장 기대하시나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I can't say i look forward to anything special, just the whole thing i would say.

what did you think of the koreans that participated in ESWC and Clikarena ?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I think they are very good players and they have good manner aswell, im looking forward to meet them again in korea.

매우 좋은 게이머인 동시에 좋은 매너를 갖추었더군요. 다시 한국에서 볼 수 있기를 고대하고 있습니다.

do you feel sk is more to do with friendship first then gaming, as i saw you and heman shared the prize money at eswc

SK팀이 게임보단 우정을 중시한다고 느끼시나요? 당신과 HeMan이 ESWC 상금을 나누는 것을 봤을 때 말이요.

SK|MaDFroG[Q] I think its about the same, if no gaming then no fun, if no friendship then no fun either...

제 생각엔 게임과 우정은 같다고 보는데요. 게임이 없으면 재미없고, 우정이 없어도, 역시 재미가 없죠.

what do you think of the exclusion of wc3 at the swedish wcg qualifiers?

이번 WCG 스웨덴 대표 선발에 있어 워3가 제외된 것에 대해 어떻게 생각하시나요?
(그랬나 보죠? --;)

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Well, we did't have any wcg for warcraft so im kind of disapointed...
how they could choose bw over war 3, when we dont have any really good players in bw

실망이죠. 특별히 뛰어난 스타크게이머가 없음에도 워3보다 스타크를 중시했는지 이해가 안 갑니다.

when you started to play warcraft 3 was your initial goal to play at a high level ?

워3를 시작하면서, 처음부터 지금 정도로 높은 수준을 목표로 했었나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Yes, i played alot of ladder in brood war, and i liked to get higher and higher. And when Warcraft came out i wanted to be the best like many else. So i played alot in the start.

예. 브루드워 시절에 래더게임을 많이 했었고, 점점 순위가 높아지는 걸 좋아했습니다. 워3가 나왔을 때 다른 사람들 처럼 최고가 되길 원했습니다. 그래서 초반부터 열심히 했죠.

in roc i saw that you played night elf alot along with undead, but now you're playing more undead as far as i can see in tft, any reason for this?

클래식에서는 언데드와 더불어 나이트 엘트로도 플레이한 걸로 알 고 있는데요, 지금은 언데드로만 플레이하시죠? 특별한 이유라도?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : At the end of roc i only played UD and i felt no reason to change in tft. In the start in roc i had a hard time winning vs hu and orc with ud so i changed to ne and it went good, but when ud got better i started to play them again.

클래식의 마지막 시절, 오로지 언데드로만 플레이했기 때문에 확장팩에 넘어와서 굳이 바꿀 필요를 못 느꼈습니다. 클래식 초기에 언데드로 휴먼과 오크를 상대하는게 너무 어려워서 나이트 엘프로 바꿨지만, 언데드가 좋아진 다음부턴 언데드로 다시 돌아섰죠.

I placed 2nd in both.


Before a lan event do you prerpare by playing alot of ladder matches or play with your teammates ?

오프라인 대회전에 래더에서 준비를 하나요? 아님 팀동료들과 연습하나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I dont play more or less and the day before the tour I dont play any games at all

그다지 준비를 많이 하진 않습니다. 특히 대회 전날엔 어떤 게임도 안 합니다.

what do you think about SK.swe's latest success at CPL ?

SK팀에 대해 어떻게 생각하나요? 스웨덴에서 가장 최근에 CPL에서 성공적인 팀인데..
(CPL은 북미-유럽의  프로리그 비스무레한거죠? 아마??)

SK|MaDFroG[Q] :It's fun ofcourse! They do what they should do all tournaments =)

매우 재미있죠. 모든 시합에서 꼭 해야할 것들을 합니다.

what are your next tournaments ?

다음 대회는?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : In korea, i will leave in 3 days or something.

한국에서 있습니다. 대략 3일정도 나가있을 듯.


does being #1 on battle.net mean anything to you anymore as you have been #1 a few times before

베틀넷에서 1위가 되는 게 별 의미가 없나요? 예전에도 몇번이나 했으니까요..

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : No it just means that i cant get anymore games on the ladder =(

예. 단지 더이상 래더게임을 할 수 없다는 걸 의미하죠.

What do your parents think of your gaming life ?

부모님은 당신의 게이머 생활에 대해 어떻게 생각하시나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : They were against it in the start, but since a while back they have accepted that i play and they support me.

처음 시작할땐 반대하셨는데, 어느 순간부터 인정하시고 지금은 절 지원해 주시죠.

Some players like Ghostridah now offer training, will training or tips be offered in the sk insider scheme ?

예를 들어, Ghostridah같은 선수는 트레이닝을 시켜주기도 하던데요, SK팀 차원에서 그런 트레이닝이나 팁을 제공할 계획이 있나요?


SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I dont know anything about that, but since we are going to korea for maybe 5 months i dont think so.

들어 본 적 없는 이야기군요. 게다가 우린 5개월 정도 한국에 있어야 하기 때문에, 그럴 순 없겠네요.

Are there any players that have influenced you in wc3?

워3하면서 영향받은 플레이어가 있습니까?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I have seen some korean replays that i liked, but it was in Roc. I liked Rex.Jyoung alot cuz of hes micro with ghouls, and i have seen alot of other replays also, and offcourse i have snapped up some strats and so.

몇몇 한국선수들의 리플레이 보기를 좋아했죠. 그러나 그건 전부 클래식 시절의 이야기고..Rex.Jyoung(다 아시다시피 전영현선수 겠죠?)의 리플을 매우 좋아했는데 그의 구울 컨트롤때문이었습니다. 그 외에도 다른 리플레이를 보면서 초반에 많이 참고를 했습니다.

Are there any strats that you find hard to counter?

상대하기 어려운 유닛이 있나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : No, but some are harder then other. Griffons and Steamtank is hard, but u should not let the human player get it.

아뇨. 다만 다른 거 보다 좀 까다로운 유닛이 있긴 한데, 그리폰과 스팀탱크가 좀 까다롭습니다. 하지만, 휴먼 플레이어가 거기까지 갈 수 없게 해야죠.

Do you think micro is very important for a high level wc3 player?

초고수들 사이에선 마이크로 컨트롤이 매우 중요하다고 생각하나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Yes, micro is one of the things u need. U also need to have the right units before the fights.

그럼요. 마이크로 컨트롤은 필수입니다. 뿐만 아니라 전투전에 그 상황에 맞는 유닛을 갖추는 능력도 필요하죠.

Are there any tips you can give to people just picking up wc3 ?

지금 막 워3를 시작하는 플레이어에게 주고 싶은 팁이라면?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : play alot... that is the only way, as long as u know why u lose u can get better.

게임 많이하는 것 외엔 왕도가 없습니다. 물론 왜 지는 줄 아는 만큼 실력이 늘겁니다.

What players do you feel are the best right now in the world ?

현재 누가 세계 최고라고 생각해요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q]> I dont know really, cuz there has not been any big tournaments yet, but all sk players are good and some koreans.There are many othere good players but i have not played them all..

사실 잘 모르죠. 아직 그걸 입증할 만한 큰 대회가 없었기 때문에. 하지만, SK플레이어들과 몇 몇 한국선수들이 뛰어나다고 생각해요. 그 외에도 좋은 선수들이 있겠지만, 같이 게임해 본적이 없어서..

Do you think being on tv will affect your playing in korea ?

한국에서 게임할땐 TV출연이 전제되는데, 게임에 영향이 있을까요?


SK|MaDFroG[Q] : No i dont think so, but u never know.

그렇게는 생각안하는데, 모르죠 머.

When you're not playing wc3 what do you get upto ?

워3를 안할 때는 머해요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : workout in the gym, party or else im out in the sun swimming or something.

헬스하거나, 파티가거나. 햇볕아래서 수영하는 것도 좋고.

Do you have a best match in your memory ? if so could you give us a description

여태까지 중에 가장 멋진 경기는 어떤게 있었나요? 가능한 만큼 설명해 주세요.

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : i would say the game vs beaver was a real good game, it was a replay of the week at replayers.com. In the end we both only had heroes left, and i won, guess that's why i remember it.

비버와의 경기가 정말 좋았어요. 리플레이어닷컴에서 그주의 리플레이로 뽑혔죠. 마지막엔 둘다 영웅만 남았고, 결국엔 제가 이겼죠. 그래서 기억에 남는지도..^^

Are SK.wc3 very good friends with the other squads in SK ?

SK팀의 워3멤버들은 다른 종목 선수들과도 친한가요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Yeah, we talk alot with them on tournaments, and they are nice guys.

what do you think about the players playing AT only to achieve the high win icons ?

오로지 순위를 높이기 위해 AT(머죠? 맵핵인가? --;)를 하는 게이머들을 어떻게 생각해요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : i would say it's a waste of time. But we are all different and if that is what they wanna do then let them.

시간낭비죠. 그러나, 머 각자 생각이 다른거고, 자신이 원해서 하는 거라면 냅둬야죠.

was your roc account celoz eventually sold ?

당신의 클래식 시절 아이디가 팔렸나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : No it was not.

do you have any ultimate goals you want to achieve in gaming?

게임하면서 어떤 궁극적인 목표가 있나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : have fun, if i can make some money there would be no problems with that.

what do you think of the recent research that was carried out that people who play computer games have high iq ?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Hmm, i didn't know. But i guess it could be right...

what do you think about the popular strat that night elf have been using, which features the beastmaster ?

요새 나엘 유저들이 많이 쓰는 비스트마스터에 대해선 어떻게 생각해요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I think its a good strat, but i have't played any real good NE so i cant tell how good it is yet.

좋은 영웅이라고는 생각하는데, 제가 나엘을 잘 하지 못하기 때문에 정확하게 어떤 점이 좋다라고 말 못하겠네요.

what do you think are the best aspects of your play?

what is the weirdest thing that has happened to u in wc3?, has anyone ever disconnected when they see they're playing you ?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Hmm, yes some ppl have checked my stats when i was on my way up in the ladder with celoz nick. "U are too good gg" and then they just left..
happened to me 3-4 times

Do you listen to mp3s while playing ladder games? if so what are your favourites?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : i do sometimes, but then its most to trance radio.

가끔 그러는데요. 주로 트랜스 계열의 라디오 방송이죠.

do you think Sweden is one of the strongest wc3 nations ?

스웨덴이 워3강국이라고 생각하나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Yes i think so, we have many good players right now.

Have you spent any winnings from tournaments yet? if so anything crazy ?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : not really... just lived a good life.


how long after starting warcraft 3 did you join SK ?

could you give us an idea of your daily routine

평소 일상생활은 어떤지요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : i get up around 2 pm eat at 4
play some and then i go workout at 6, come home at 7.30 and eat then i play till 12, then i eat then i play till i go to bed. But different on friday and saturday...

오후 2시쯤 일어나서 4시 머 좀 먹고, 게임 좀 하다가 운동하러 6시에 나가죠. 집에 7시반쯤에 와서, 좀 먹고 다시 12시까지 게임합니다. 그리고 또 먹고 잠자러 갈때까지 게임하죠.
주말엔 좀 달라요.

Do you still attend school ?

아직 학생?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : no i just finished.. 2 months ago

2달전에 졸업했죠.

do you think all the time you have spent playing was worth it in the end ?

당신이 게임하면서 보낸 시간이 결국엔 의미가 있을꺼라고 생각하나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : Yes for sure, i like what im doing, if i did't i would't do it

물론이죠. 전 지금 하는 일에 만족하고, 그렇지 않다면 안 했겠죠.

are you planning on maybe becoming a pro gamer? or do you have other plans ?

앞으로 프로게이머가 될 생각인가요? 아니면 다른 계획이라도?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : I dont have any plans really, but i would like to be a progamer ofcourse..

아직까진 구체적으로 생각안해봤는데, 물론 프로게이머가 되면 좋겠죠.

Is there anything in wc3 that irritates you the most?

워3가 당신을 화나게 할때도 있나요?

SK|MaDFroG[Q] : When i play bad. And ppl uploading a replay just because they won vs me.

제가 게임을 잘 못할때죠. 또 사람들이 단지 나와 해서 이겼다는 이유만으로 리플레이를 올릴때.
